The title of your website is an often overlooked part of your website. When choosing a title, think of something more creative and pertinent than "Bob's widget page". Google displays up to 66 characters of your web page title. Yahoo will display up to 120 characters The META keywords and description tags are helpful to improved search placement on approximately 10% of the search engines. Choose a short description, up to 255 characters including spaces, that best describes your site. While you are creating your description, you can view the number of characters in the description as you are typing. Keywords are words that people put into search engines to obtain the information they are looking for. When choosing keywords, do not repeat the same keyword and try to think of as many relevant keywords that you can. Try to keep the character count to under 1000. When you have finished creating your META tags, click on the "Create META Tags" button and copy (ctrl + c) and paste (ctrl + v) the tags into the head of your document. <head> <title>... <meta name="description".... <meta name="keywords".... </head> |
